华盛顿时间2024年2月6日，美国国家工程院发布2023年度国家工程院增补院士名单，共有114名院士和21名外籍院士入选，上海交通大学船舶海洋与建筑工程学院1987届校友夏志永入选。

夏志永，苹果公司杰出工程师兼硬件工程总监，1987年在上海交通大学获得船舶与海洋工程及计算机科学双学位学士，1992年、1994年获得哈佛大学工程科学硕士和博士学位。1995年加入福特汽车公司研究与创新中心担任技术专家，其后成为负责汽车材料、制造和仿真技术研究开发的技术总监。2014年加盟苹果公司，领导产品仿真和机器学习的研发，支持 iPhone、iPad、Mac、Apple Watch、AirPod、Vision Pro 和未来革命性产品的设计制造。研发领域涉及力学、材料、制造和模拟。在汽车和消费电子行业的30年职业生涯中，他在许多领域做出了贡献。夏志永长期担任公司和专业协会的领导职务。已发表100余篇学术论文，编辑/共同编辑了7本技术书籍/期刊/会议合集，拥有25项专利和2项商业机密。

夏志永是美国国家工程院院士、制造工程学会（SME）会士。他曾获SAE亨利·福特二世杰出奖（2005年）、SAE/AISI 悉尼·H·墨尔本奖（2009 年）、SAE 福雷斯特·R·麦克法兰德奖（2011 年）、ASME 杰出服务奖（2013 年）、STLE 界面工程最佳论文奖（2014 年）以及三次福特公司的最高荣誉亨利·福特技术奖（2005、2009、2011 年）。

The National Academy of Engineering (NAE) has elected 114 new members and 21 international members, announced NAE President John L. Anderson today. 

Election to the National Academy of Engineering is among the highest professional distinctions accorded to an engineer. Academy membership honors those who have made outstanding contributions to "engineering research, practice, or education, including, where appropriate, significant contributions to the engineering literature" and to "the pioneering of new and developing fields of technology, making major advancements in traditional fields of engineering,or developing/implementing innovative approaches to engineering education.

Individuals in the newly elected class will be formally inducted during the NAE's annual meeting on Sept. 29, 2024.
