Jiao Tong's new double-degree program to prepare students for global world

SHINE报道 Shanghai Jiao Tong University announced Wednesday that its Antai College of Economics and Management has reached a partnership with ESADE Business School to launch a double-degree program for master students in Europe and China.

Antai, with a long history dating back to 1903, is one of China's highest-ranked business schools and is among the top five in the Asia-Pacific region in many educational rankings.

ESADE, established in 1958 and integrated into Ramon Llull University in 1995, has partnership agreements with 169 universities, business and law schools worldwide. It has been consistently ranked among the world’s top business schools by the leading rankings, including Financial Times, Bloomberg BusinessWeek and The Economist.

The partnership is part of the two institutions’ strategy to tackle global challenges in various academic areas and to promote academic excellence and cross-cultural understanding.

Under the program, both academic institutions will send outstanding students abroad each year to learn about the unique business environments of China and Europe and prepare them for the fast-paced global business world.

Students who graduate from this program will be awarded a masters degree in International Business from Shanghai Jiao Tong and another in Management from ESADE Business School – Ramon Llull University.

According to Koldo Echebarria, ESADE’s director general, the new agreement with Jiao Tong confirmed “ESADE’s mission to cultivate students' international and global perspective worldwide, empowering exceptional youth.”

Jiang Sixian, Party Secretary of Shanghai Jiao Tong University and chairman of the university council, said that this agreement "will provide our students with more chances of global immersion that is critical to becoming future leaders in the multicultural context."

Jiang believes the close partnership between the two advanced business schools will bring about better educational practices that are aligned with fast changes and new challenges of the global economy.
